Mi ha sempre affascinato il frutto che viene dall’albero del cotogno. Questo frutto, che matura in autunno inoltrato, ha un colore giallo intenso, è piuttosto bruttarello ma profuma moltissimo. Un tempo veniva usato anche per profumare gli ambienti o la biancheria. Sanja ricorda che la sua nonna ne teneva sempre un paio sugli armadi di casa.

I've always been fascinated by that strange fruit that comes from quince tree?  A fruit that ripens in late autumn and is of an intense yellow color, although quite ugly, when ripe, it smells heavenly! In the old days it was actually used as air freshener in homes or even in laundry closets. Sanja remembers her grandma always used to keep a few quince fruits on top of her cupboards.

A Ho Chi Minh City, Sanja aveva sviluppato una vera e propria ossessione per la sua cenetta in strada a base di com tam, tanto che le uniche due sere che avevamo deciso di provare altro, aveva rimpianto poi di non aver preso nuovamente il tanto amato piatto!

Back in Ho Chi Minh City, Sanja had developed a real obsession for her street-style com tam dinner, so much so that the only two nights we decided to try other things, she regretted not having taken her beloved com tam once again!
